About WordVault

Our Mission

WordVault was built with a single goal: give word game players the fastest, most accurate word-finding tools available for free. No ads cluttering the results, no paywalls, no accounts required.

Whether you're stuck on today's Wordle, looking for the highest-scoring Scrabble play, or trying to unscramble letters for a crossword — WordVault gives you the answer instantly. We believe finding a word should take under a second, not require registering for a service or clicking through three ad-heavy pages.

Who Built WordVault

WordVault is built and maintained by a small team of word game enthusiasts who have collectively spent years playing Wordle, competing in casual Scrabble tournaments, and building tools for the word game community. We started WordVault in 2025 because we were frustrated with existing word finders — they were slow, cluttered with ads, or gave wrong results.

Our Word Database & Methodology

WordVault's word lists are built from two industry-standard Scrabble dictionaries:

• TWL06 (Tournament Word List) — the official dictionary used in North American Scrabble competitions, published by Hasbro. Contains approximately 178,000 valid words.
• SOWPODS (Collins Scrabble Words) — used in international Scrabble tournaments outside North America. Contains approximately 270,000 valid words, including many British English terms not in TWL06.

For our Wordle tools, we also cross-reference the New York Times Wordle valid-guess list and answer list. This ensures that words suggested by our Wordle Solver are words the NYT will accept as valid guesses — not just Scrabble-legal words.

Our validation process: every word in the database is checked against at least one of these two dictionaries. Words that appear only in obscure or non-standard sources are excluded. The word lists are reviewed and updated on a regular basis to reflect dictionary updates.

Our Tools

WordVault offers a suite of free word game tools, all accessible without creating an account:

• Word Finder — Browse 3 to 7-letter words by starting letter, filter by position, score, and more. Results display Scrabble point values calculated per TWL06 scoring rules.
• Wordle Solver — Enter your green/yellow/grey clues to instantly see every valid remaining word. Uses constraint-based filtering to narrow down from 12,000+ possible words to only the exact matches.
• Scrabble Word Finder — Find the highest-scoring playable words from any set of rack letters. Results sorted by Scrabble point value.
• Word Unscrambler — Unscramble any set of letters into all valid English words, sorted by length and score.
• Wordle Answers — Curated database of common Wordle answer words and past answers for reference.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Word game players rely on us to give correct answers — and incorrect information directly harms the people using our tools. That is why we take dictionary accuracy seriously.

If you find a word that should be valid but isn't listed, or a word that appears in our lists but has been removed from official dictionaries, please let us know. We review every report and update the database as needed. Our goal is a 100% accurate word list that matches what Scrabble tournaments and Wordle actually accept.

We also deliberately exclude offensive or slur words even when they appear in official Scrabble dictionaries. Word games should be accessible to everyone.
