Scrabble Strategy Guide

Rack Management: The Foundation of Scrabble Strategy

The most consistent Scrabble players win not by playing the highest-scoring word every turn, but by managing their rack to maintain flexibility. A rack full of high-point consonants like Q, Z, J, and X sounds exciting, but if those letters don't combine well, you'll be stuck with a terrible draw next turn.

Aim to keep a balanced ratio of vowels to consonants — ideally 2–3 vowels and 4–5 consonants on your rack at all times. The most flexible consonants to hold onto are R, N, S, T, and L. These combine with almost anything. S tiles are especially valuable because they can extend any word already on the board into a plural.

How to Use This Scrabble Word Finder

Enter up to 7 letters from your current rack into the tiles above and press "Find Words." The finder searches all words (3–7 letters) that can be built from those exact letters, including words shorter than your full rack. Results are sorted by Scrabble point value, from highest to lowest. Use a ? to represent a blank tile — words using blank tiles show 0 points for that position.

All words are validated against TWL06 (North American tournament rules) and SOWPODS (international rules). If a word appears in our results, it is legal in at least one of those two official dictionaries.
